The President of the Liberia Football Association Mustapha I. Raji has maintained that he still does not take any honorarium from the LFA contrary to claims by critics.
“I am not rich , I am poor, the LFA also can’t pay me and I came to the LFA to serve football , he re-emphasized.
Responding to a question from a sport Journalist, the LFA Boss challenged anyone to show record or prove if he is or has taken honorarium since 2018, “if anyone shows prove, I will resign now”, he noted.
Speaking more, he informed Sports Journalists that he personally fuel his current vehicle and the LFA does not give him money for the vehicle he rides.
According to him, his focus is to ensure that Football is developed and improved for the betterment of the sector.
Speaking about the National Team of which the LFA is the official caretaker , he disclosed that they continue to experience financial challenges in supporting the team but the goal of the LFA is to ensure that the National team qualifies for the 2025 Nation’s Cup, this he noted is possible with hard work.
He stressed that they at the LFA as the technicians are working on other programs and activities to help improve the game especially with the gifted talents of Liberia.
Providing clarity on Solomon Mudege, a Zimbabwe, President Raji disclosed that Mudege is a FIFA buddy who has been working with Liberia to help develop football including women football development over the past years , since Musa Bility’s time, he added.
“Mudege works with FIFA, he sits at Paris”, President Raji further clarified.
He wants Liberians to focus their attention and energy on football development for the common good of the sector.
“People who spill such misinformation do not know much about football and its development”, he said.
According to him, he is focused and can’t be distracted and he remains committed to develop football, I am a tough nut to crack, he reechoed.
President Raji at the same time call for collective approach in order to help improve the game.
“At the LFA, All is not 100% but we are doing well to make it better in the sector”, he noted.
President Raji spoke Tuesday, July 2, 2024 during a day long media engagement with members of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia at the Headquarters of the LFA in the Swankamore Community in Congo Town.
