JURY CLEARS EX-LTA ACTING CHAIR ABDULLAH KAMARA OF ALL CORRUPTION CHARGES IN GRAND BASSA

BUCHANAN, Grand Bassa County, – Former Liberia Telecommunications Authority Acting Chairman Abdullah L. Kamara has been acquitted of all corruption charges after a 12-member jury returned a unanimous not-guilty verdict at the Second Judicial Circuit Court in Buchanan.

The jury’s decision, delivered over the weekend following court proceedings, brought an end to the case that drew public scrutiny due to Kamara’s senior role at LTA and the nature of the allegations.

After deliberations, the jury found Kamara not guilty on all counts while the verdict clears the former acting chair of any legal liability related to the charges brought against him.

Kamara’s prosecution attracted attention because of his position at the helm of LTA, Liberia’s telecom regulator.

The acquittal marks the conclusion of the trial unless prosecutors file an appeal or initiate further legal action.
