MONROVIA, Montserrado County
 – The Liberia Electricity Corporation has placed four employees on indefinite administrative suspension without pay and benefits, pending investigation into the alleged theft and unauthorized removal of electrical materials from its Bushrod Island warehouse.

The suspensions took effect immediately after officers of the Liberia National Police Anti-Robbery Unit intercepted more than 38 cartons of electrical supplies on Saturday evening, June 20, 2026.

The materials were being transported in a commercial taxi from Congo Town toward ELWA Junction, according to LEC management.

Preliminary findings show the materials left the Bushrod Island warehouse on Friday for approved works along the Virginia–Klay–Bomi–Cape Mount corridor but were allegedly diverted before reaching their destination.

Based on joint findings by the Liberia National Police and LEC’s internal investigative team, the following staff were suspended due to alleged links to the incident:

  1. Ezekiel Wakarwee – Manager, Bomi & Cape Mount
  2. Mary Jonjo Nagbe – Engineer
  3. Musa Fathoma – Forklift Operator, Warehouse
  4. Momoh A. Sheriff – Driver

LEC said the measure is to protect assets, preserve investigative integrity, and maintain public trust.

The suspended employees must surrender all LEC property within 24 hours, including keys, ID cards, access cards, IT equipment, and official records.

They are barred from entering any LEC premises without written authorization and must cooperate fully with police and internal investigators.

Management stressed the suspensions are administrative, not a finding of guilt. “Any final decision on employment status will be made only after investigations and disciplinary proceedings are completed, in line with LEC policy and Liberian law,” the Corporation stated.

LEC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability, adding that any additional persons implicated will face legal and disciplinary action.
