The Chairperson of the National Elections Commission Davidetta Browne Lansanah said eight aspirants have successfully completed the nomination process ahead of the Nimba County Senatorial By-Election.
According to her seven of the eight aspirants are males with a lone female aspirant respectively.
Following the review of the nomination process, she told reporters that only eight out of the eleven aspirants successfully completed the process before the scheduled deadline.
The aspirants she stated are representing political parties as well as independent respectively.
Madam Lansanah at the same time disclosed the amount of 2m for the conduct of the Electoral process which was approved by the government of Liberia.
She used the ocassion to assure the public that the Commission remains committed to conducting a free, fair, and transparent by-election in line with its constitutional mandate.
The NEC boss made these remarks on Friday, March 14, 2025 at the close of the candidates nomination process.
The crucial Senatorial By-Election scheduled for April 22, 2025 in vote rich Nimba County came following the death of former Senator Prince Y. Johnson.
His death which created a vacancy in the Liberian Senate for Nimba County is expected to be fill following the end of the to By-Election later April or early May, 2025.
