Monrovia, Liberia: The Women Legislative Caucus of the 55th Legislature has sworn into office its new leadership team, who will steer the caucus for the next three years.
Among those taking office were Representative Ellen Attoh-Werh of Margibi County District 3, as the new Chairperson, Representative Precellia Cooper as Co-Chair for National Affairs, and Honorable Bantu Massalay as Secretary, among others.
During the induction ceremony, Chairperson Attoh-Werh pledged to champion gender-responsive legislations and implement a comprehensive framework to empower Liberian women flanked by a goal to significantly increase women’s involvement in both local and national politics.
Also speaking at the event, House Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon committed to rallying his colleagues to support the “He for She” campaign, which advocates for gender equality.
Meanwhile, Vice President Koung affirmed the government’s commitment to supporting greater women’s participation in upcoming elections.
