Stark UP Critic, Jefferson Koijee Accuses Boakai’s Administration of Egregious Violations of the Rule of Law

Jefferson Tamba Koijee – Secretary General of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), has outlined several alleged intentional and severe legal, and human rights violations against the administration of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai.

In an article titled, “Exposing the Political Hypocrisy of Joseph Boakai,” Koijee streamlines multiple claims of misconduct, forceful political appointments at tenure positions amongst others, as a betrayal of the Liberian people’s trust.

The write-out accuses the leadership of Boakai of widespread nepotism, police brutality, and an alleged failure to investigate the deaths of citizens and government officials thereby creating “tranny” – words of CDC-SG.

He made reference to two incidents both in Kinjor, Grand Cape Mount and Montserrado Counties which led to the alleged deaths of two Liberian boys and students by security – describing it as “direct state assassination”.

The article further pointed accusing fingers to “reluctance and alleged failure by President Boakai to launch large-scale investigation into the “mysterious deaths” of several key figures across the nation.

“Worst of all, under Mr. Boakai, we have witnessed the mysterious deaths of top government officials whose forensic results are yet to be made known to the public, raising suspicion about the deadly attacks of Mr. Boakai on critical voices within his government”, the article quotes Koijee.

He provides a list of eleven public servants including,
Anthony Weah – regional commander of the Liberia National Police ,
Sergeant Bobby Manndeh of the Armed Forces of Liberia,
Maude Elliott of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), and
Lusinei Manneh, a probationary police officer of the Liberia National Police among others, as people who were allegedly killed/died under mysterious circumstances.

“Fellow Liberians, I do not come to you with conjecture and clinical lies, I come to this discourse to hold Mr. Boakai accountable for utterly pretending to be what he’s not”, Koijee said.

The CDC Secretary General critique also focuses on alleged failures in governance, including a culture of impunity for corrupt officials.

Under President Boakai’s tenure, Koijee explained that “institutions designed to fight corruption in Liberia are now tools to shield the powerful, rather than protect the people – which he said, has led to a breakdown of the rule of law and “deliberately imposed hardship on market women, students, motorcyclists, and marginalized groups”.

“Even worse, with Liberia confronting rising insecurities, deteriorating infrastructure, and deepening poverty, it is clear that the old guard, personified by Boakai and his Unity Party allies, bear responsibility for these failures. Instead of taking bold action, Boakai’s silence and political maneuvering enabled corrupt networks to thrive, leaving Liberia ill-prepared for the challenges ahead. Today, Liberia still suffers from weak institutions, poor public service delivery, and economic stagnation, issues directly linked to the culture of impunity still exist under Boakai’s presidency”, CDC-SG Koijee said.

The one time CDC Youth leader challenged Liberians to join him put the U.P administration feet to fire and ensure no one comes to power with what he describes as “deep lies and hate against the Country.

He said, Boakai deserves a life outside the presidency with his kinsmen not with the Liberian people whom he has failed miserably to govern and put food on their tables.
