WANHASSSA, Lofa County — Authorities in Wanhassa Administrative District are investigating the death of an elderly farmer who was allegedly killed by his son with an axe on their family cocoa farm in Yangbelahun Town, local sources confirmed Wednesday.
The deceased, identified by residents as the father of suspect John K. Ndorbor, reportedly sustained fatal injuries during what witnesses described as an “undisclosed misunderstanding” on the farm earlier this week.
Community members say the incident has left Yangbelahun Town in shock and mourning. “This is heartbreaking for all of us.
We have never seen anything like this here,” said one town elder who asked not to be named, citing the ongoing investigation.
Local leaders are urging calm as Liberia National Police officers in Lofa County continue inquiries.
As of press time, the LNP Lofa Detachment had not issued an official statement detailing the circumstances of the incident or confirming whether Ndorbor is in police custody.
