MICAT Dismisses False Claims of JFK Fee Hike

By: Margret Nyumah—

Monrovia, Liberia – The Ministry of Information has denied reports circulating on social media suggesting an increase in service fees at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Medical Center.

Deputy Minister Daniel Sando clarified that the memo being shared was an internal draft, not approved by JFK management or the Ministry of Health.

“There has been no official approval for any fee increase,” Sando said during a press briefing.

He warned that spreading false information about healthcare services can harm public trust and discourage people from seeking medical care.

Sando urged media outlets and social media users to verify information before publishing, especially on sensitive issues.

He also highlighted ongoing improvements at JFK under President Boakai’s leadership and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to affordable, quality healthcare for all.
