The West African Network For Peace Building is calling on Liberians to remain peaceful as the Run-off Presidential Election continues across the country.
The observers network stated that as Liberians go to the polls to decide on their choice of leaders, the results of the will of the Liberian people will be respected noting that they truly and accurately reflect the will and aspirations of the citizenry of the country.
They further that Liberians are to be peaceful and law-abiding until the electioneering process is peacefully concluded, saying the process is closely being monitored by the election situation room (ESR) as they continue to receive real-time data from the observers.
“Political parties and citizens of Liberia should continue to exercise patience and keep the peace while waiting for the process to progress and conclude in line with the Electoral Laws”.
In a nationwide address, the observers network recognized that some of the incidents that led to a delayed process in the general election have been improved saying issues include the disaggregation of the voters list in alphabetical order.
They further that the network observers reported about 91.75% of the polling centers opened at 8:00 am, while 8.25% of polling centers that did not open on time raged between 8:14 and 8:45 am.
WANEP observers reported that procedures spelled out by the Electoral Laws were largely observed and followed by the NEC polling staff saying at the opening of the polls, 99.11% reported that all sensitive election materials were provided.
Meanwhile, the West African Network for Peace Building Network has raised concerns about relevant stakeholders including the National Election Commission, Joint Security, and political parties should be handy to address any further issues that may erupt to ensure continued decorum in the process.

The observer network noted that NEC to continue engagement of the public through their media platforms as a medium of assuring those in places where polls did not begin as scheduled that they will have the chance to cast their votes in line with the extant provisions of the electoral laws.
