The office for the Establishment of War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia has announced major plans to embark on a nationwide outreach campaign.
Making the disclosure to the media, the Executive Director of OWECC-L Dr. Jallah Barbu said the initiative is in preparation of massive awareness about the activities and importance of the OWECC-L to the people.
He stated that the exercise is to ensure that every county form a part of the process because, Montserrado County is not Liberia alone.
“We will work and ensure that the fifteen Counties get fully involved in the process”, he re-emphasized.
Currently he disclosed that the OWECC-L is involved in evidence gathering process as part of the process while they are also working on identifying investigators who will be fully trained to ensure that they get ready for such national task.
“We are also developing training manuals for investigators”, he added.
According to him, the OWECC-L is aware that it is not going to be an easy process especially in relation to security risk which he stated is high.
However, he pointed out that they are developing a witness protect tool to help the process.
As the OWECC-L continues its activities in the wake of some financial and security related challenges, the Executive Director Dr. Barbu remain confident and certain that with the willingness and support from the people, they will achieve and fulfill their mandate of ensuring that the courts are established in Liberia.
