PRESIDENT BOAKAI ACCEPTS NEC CHAIRPERSON’S RESIGNATION, REQUESTS CONTINUED SERVICE
Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has formally accepted the resignation of Honorable Davidetta Browne Lansanah as Chairperson of the National Elections Commission (NEC), effective March 15, 2026.
In her resignation letter, Hon. Browne Lansanah cited a desire to take time off after over 12 years of service to the Commission, first as Commissioner and later as Chairperson.
She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve Liberia and ensured a smooth transition within the Institution.
For his part, President Boakai commended Hon. Browne Lansanah for her dedicated service, noting that her tenure strengthened Liberia’s electoral framework and enhanced the credibility, stability, and integrity of the nation’s democratic processes.
The President has requested Hon. Browne Lansanah to continue overseeing the NEC’s affairs through March 31, 2026, to ensure a seamless transition while also initiating the process of nominating a successor in accordance with the Constitution and applicable laws.
President Boakai thanked Hon. Browne Lansanah for her service to Liberia and wished her success in her future endeavors.
