Monrovia, Liberia – Lyee K. Bility, Director General of Renaissance Communications Incorporated and CEO of Bilikon Entertainment, has expressed reservations about the Liberia National Tourism Authority’s (LNTA) push for registration among entertainers and content creators.
In a statement released Tuesday, former Montserrado county District #4 representative candidate Bility emphasized that while he supports structure and formalization, the current lack of industry infrastructure, protection, and financial returns for creatives makes the registration demand seem premature.
“Registration should come with value,” he stressed, highlighting concerns over unaddressed issues such as royalties and intellectual property protection.
Bility urged the LNTA to ensure that the system delivers tangible benefits to creatives, adding that enforcement alone will not yield desired results without corresponding support and opportunities.
He pointed out that many artists and operators are not seeing real benefits from their work, citing issues with royalties and lack of proper industry support.
The LNTA’s registration drive aims to formalize Liberia’s entertainment sector, but Bility’s comments underscore the need for a more comprehensive approach.
Many in the industry are echoing his call for greater support and infrastructure development before enforcing registration.
