WHERE ARE THE SUSPECTS?” – SENATOR DILLON DEMANDS LDEA NAME DRUG TRAFFICKING SUSPECTS OR FACE SENATE HEARING
MONROVIA – Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon has called on the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency to publicly name individuals linked to the $19 million cocaine seizure at Roberts International Airport, warning that continued silence will force Senate intervention.
In a Facebook post Saturday , Dillon said nearly a week has passed since LDEA announced the bust, yet the agency has not disclosed the identities of persons of interest in the case.
“Where in the world have we seen the names of ‘persons of interest’ being ‘withheld’?” Dillon questioned.
He argued that since LDEA made the seizure public, withholding suspect identities only fuels speculation and erodes public trust in the investigation.
Dillon asked why LDEA has delayed releasing names four days after the initial announcement and warned that the agency’s silence is “generating all the speculations, twisting, spinning and finger-pointing.
“Justice demands transparency. LDEA must speak up now and tomorrow with clear updates on progress,” he stated, urging the agency to provide daily briefings until suspects are identified and charged.
The senator gave LDEA an ultimatum to either publicly update the investigation or face compulsory summons before the Liberian Senate next week.
“Alternatively, we will be left with the duty, without fear or favor, to bring this matter before the Senate next week to compel the appropriate and necessary actions to ensure clarity and justice,” Dillon warned.
The agency previously confirmed the seizure of 2,151.94 kilograms of suspected cocaine valued at $19 million but said investigations were ongoing.
