The Honorable House of Representatives-HOR, has requested its Labor Committee, to cite authorities of the Wage Board, to clarify plans for setting-up the minimum wage of Government employees.
The minimum wage board is a statutory body setup to review and recommend minimum wages, from time to time, that will promote the attainment of decent work in Liberia.
A release issued Thursday, May 23, 2024, by the Press Bureau, says plenary reached the decision following a communication from Grand Bassa County District 5 Representative, Thomas Goshua.
“We wish to remind plenary about our communication dated February 26, 2024 in which we informed plenary of current day reality faced by workers when it comes to the minimum wage set. The present minimum wage doesn’t commensurate with the cost of living standard and we think it is unacceptable”, Rep. Goshua stated.
The Grand Bassa County Lawmaker appealed to plenary to invite the minimum wage board which is chaired by Labor Minister, to appear and give clarity on plans for the minimum wage of government employees.
