Citizens of District #11 Montserrado County are now enjoying pliable road connections within their district.
Unlike before , residents of the district are moving about their normal and regular businesses in a smooth, free and unhindered manner and form.
The latest move according to a pressure group named and styled, “Strategic Thinkers”, is in fulfillment of a commitment made by Representative, Richard Nagbe Koon to his people at a recently held Town hall meeting in the district.
“I will make all roads in the district pliable to help ensure accessibility “, Speaker Koon assured his people.
The group during a tour as a follow-up to his promise at some of the project sites said they were impressed with the level of work done by Speaker Koon for his people.
In conversation with some of the Motorcyclists and kekeh riders who usually plide these roads said they see the initiative as a great relief to them.
According to Strategic Thinkers, as part of their work and advocacy is to hold government officials accountable for commitments made to their people as such, when officials fulfill their commitments to their people , it is key to welcome and commend them.
They stated that in the same manner if these government officials fail to meet up with their obligations, they will be criticized, such should be the same way that when they fulfill, they should be appreciated, they maintained.
“Even though it is not a Kota but it is helpful for us because it cuts down our regular long distances into half and also help us save gas including avoiding accidents”, commercial bike riders narrated.
At the same time, the current beneficieries of the road rehabilitation work told our reporter that they are impressive with such a wise decision which has been an old age problem for them.
“, So far and since the rehabilitation works on the road, we don’t see or experience accidents, unnecessary damages of our motorbikes and kekehs and for this, we want to say a big thank you to our lawmaker, this is what plus more we expect from them”, they added.
As the massive rehabilitation works in the district continues with other roads to be targeted soon, some happy beneficiaries now see the initiative as a good beginning worth appreciating.
“We want him to do more but for now, we are so happy for this”, some marketers in conversation with our reporter noted.
In an interview with some officials of Strategic Thinkers, they see the initiative as not only laudable but a good step forward as part of the general government focus under the ARREST AGENDA with focus on road construction across the Country.
They stressed that the Speaker’s move in the district sets the pace for other developmental activities to flow noting that once you connect the district by roads, it helps to ensure easy access for all regardless of which divide they come from.
“Students will go to school on time, market people will be able to bring their goods to market smoothly, ambulance will move faster to bring patients to their respective health facilities in order to save lives and avoid preventable deaths through accidents “, among others, they pointed out.
Currently, residents of the district are now benefiting from strategic stretch of roads already rehabilitated within the district to include; the Dixville Market to Benson Street and subsequently to Upper Caldwell, The Dixville to Bassa Town road as well as the Kebbeh to Johnsonville, 4.1 km stretch of road respectively.
It can be recalled that Speaker Koon is on record for promising his people of doing more works and less talk in a drive to help transform their lives as the current roads work appears to be testament of his commitment.
In his statement during the town hall meeting, he reassured his constituents that District #11 will no longer be the same.
Outlined on his plate for development within the district is the construction of sporting facilities, playgrounds for the children, the fencing of the Barnesville estate football field and empowerment package to include the provision of motorbikes to riders within the district at each parking point among others.
As the district is gradually taking shape in roads rehabilitation work as well as other educational and developmental projects, the dawn of a new day for district 11 appears to surface especially for the locals.
