Youth and Sports Minister Cllr. Jeror Cole Bangalu has termed as sad, Wrong and unacceptable the vanderlization of the headquarters of the Liberia Football Association by members of the Students Unification Party (SUP) from the campus of the University of Liberia.
In an interview with reporters Minister Bangalu in the strongest term condemned the action by the lawless students and call on the Ministry of Justice to take seize of the matter and launch an investigation in order to bring to book the culprits.
He vowed to vigorously work with the Ministry of Justice to ensure that those linked to the unfortunate situation at the LFA’s headquarters face the full weight of the law.
” This is sad and heart breaking especially at the eve of the National team’s world cup Qualifier game with Tunisia” he blasted.
He indicated that the laws of the Country provide for people to protest but such should be done in an orderly manner and not through violence as was done by SUP members.
“I entered the facility of the LFA today and see stones and other objects all on the floor , they even damage some of the glass doors”, this is wrong and those behind this should desist”, he re-emphasized.
The Youth and Sports boss at the same time encouraged the Ministry of Justice to thoroughly investigate the violence perpetrated by SUP members and find out exactly who are those behind it in order for the rightful measures to be taken to avoid the recurrence.
It can be recalled that early Tuesday morning SUP members dressed in their regular military uniforms stormed the headquarters of the LFA, forcibly enter the giant size iron gate of the fence in protest questioning the nationality of the President of the Liberia Football Association, Mustapha Raji.
The Protesters later in attempt to enter the main offices of the LFA used stones and other harmful objects and damage the glass doors of the facility.
According to our reporter some staffs of the LFA including few private security officers assigned at the LFA sustained major and minor wounds during the process.
In the wake of the investigation by the Ministry of Justice, many Sports lovers have also condemned the unfortunate action by SUP militants and alleged such action to be the work of some pay agents within the sector.
