The Speaker of Ivorian Parliament has held a one day working and friendly visit with his Liberian counterpart, House Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon.
The crucial working session held in Abidjan was among other things devoted to strengthening parliamentary cooperation between Ivory Coast and Liberia.
According to the Ivorian head of Parliament, their insightful exchanges highlighted the importance of revitalizing the Mano River Union, which unites Ivory Coast, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.
” I have thus proposed that the Presidents of the Assemblies of Member States may meet in the framework of a mini parliamentary summit, in addition to existing ministerial meetings, a proposal well welcomed by my counterpart”, he added.
Following the session, the head of the Ivorian National Assembly led the Liberian delegation headed by Speaker Koon at the National Assembly premises for a guided tour of their assembly’s facility.
In brief response, Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon appreciated his colleague for the warm welcome accorded he and his delegation members.
The Liberian Speaker who welcomed his counterpart’s proposals also assured him of Liberia’s fullest Commitment to working together in the interest of further strengthening collaboration among member Countries of the Mano River Union basin in the Supreme interest of their people.
He termed the visit and the hospitable reception accorded he and his delegation as a new beginning and a win, win for the sub region.
